"Let's Make a Play" Programme (LMP - Prog)
Children from ages seven to fifteen can take part in the programme. The programme gives the child the opportunity to learn and enjoy the basic elements in drama and theatre such as acting, developing a story, directing, making music, making costumes, making stage sets and properties, etc., using available resources.
The prime objective of the programme is to develop mental and physical aspects and to enhance artistic taste, cheerfulness and playful sense of the children through drama and theatre. The programme provides a valuable opportunity to learn basic forms of art, increase world awareness, enhance experience in human relationships and socio-cultural values as well as to develop children’s abilities and to gain self-esteem and confidence to be an independent person.
The programme is conducted by Kaushalya Fernando, Dr. Chandana Aluthge, and Mayura Kanchana Perera who possess wealth of experience in particular in drama and theatre for children in Sri Lanka.
The programme consists of five four-hour sessions from 20th to 24h August 2012. The sessions are held from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on each day. Registration of children for the programme will be done on first come-first served basis.
The fee for the programme is Rs. 4000/= per child plus a registration fee of Rs. 150/=. When two children from the same family are enrolled, the second child gets a 10 percent discount on programme fee.
Participating children are kindly requested to bring their food and drinks. Children should be provided with suitable clothing to take part in sessions.
Sessions are held at Janakala Kendraya premises, which is situated near the Parliament.
