On-the-job Training with Theatre Productions and Specific Projects.

LCYTF regularly produces new plays and holds theatre performances and festival regularly in and around Colombo. Apart from that, the organisation conducts specific activities too. By getting involved in these activities you will be able to gain a practical knowledge and experience on specific theatre related activities. For example, those who are interested in working with children can join our Creative Activities for Children Programme and obtain training in the specific area of working with children.

In the same manner, when there is an ongoing production, you could join it to acquire more specific technical know-how such as stage management, stage lighting design as well as theatre administration, etc.

What Qualifications you need to possess to obtain on-the-job training at LCYTF?

a) Primarily, the candidate should possess a love for the theatre and should be prepared to offer her/his full commitment to the training and she/he should be hard working and motivated.

b) During on the job training period, she or he should be willing to work without payment since being a non profiting organisation, we are unable to make any kind of payment to the trainees.

c) The candidate should have sat for GCE. Ordinary Level or Advanced Level Examinations.

d) If the candidate possesses special abilities like singing, dancing, painting etc., it can be an added advantage.
