"Creative Encounters" Programme (CRE-Prog)

Introduction to Creative Encounters Programme:
“Creative Encounters” is another unique programme for children between the ages seven and fifteen, brought to you by LCYTF. It gives the child the opportunity to learn and enjoy the basic elements of different art forms such as drama, dance, music and painting.
This programme is aimed at enhancing the artistic taste, cheerfulness and playful sense of the child through creative activities and thereby develops his/her abilities and self-esteem. While providing a valuable opportunity to learn basic forms of art, the programme encourages the child to explore human relationships, socio-cultural values and achieve world awareness.

Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation (LCYTF):
In 1981 Somalatha Subasinghe founded the Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation (LCYTF) and Play House-Kotte, the theatre production and training arm of LCYTF, to promote theatre production and performances specifically for children and youth, training of actors, and research on theatre studies.  Since 1981 the organisation has produced a repertoire of mainly musical theatre for children and youth and award-winning mainstream art theatre productions which were performed in the island as well as abroad. In January 2007, this institution was incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 3 of 2007 to further its quest for the young audience.
